Oh, Jonny W...
Oh, Jonny W...
I just finished (as of 730 this morning) a paper on Arminianism. It was a pain in my ass, but a nice chance to really look into what my church believes. I find myself being very Wesleyan, which I suppose is a good thing, since I go to a United Methodist Church.
However, I really enjoy Episcopal worship. I feel like it's richer experience; it's easier for me to feel God's presence.
I suppose that's not really a problem Methodism came from the Anglican tradition.
Sadly, and I know this is a little shallow, but part of the reason I like St. John's so much, as compared to my church, is the music. I'm sorry, I can't stand praise music. Muiscally speaking, it's some of the least satisfying stuff every written. Simple carbs compared to the whole grains I'm used to having. Theologically most of them aren't much better. It's pretty gross. Give me a big organ and solid harmony any day. (That sounded far dirtier than it should have.)
I'm going to run away with Jen's copy of Wesley's sermons. Even if he is a little silly sometimes, Jonny W and I are tight.
